This naked raku vessel has been lovingly handmade and fired in the naked raku method. Naked Raku is a highly specialised and labour intensive process. Multiple layers of slip and glaze are applied and then it is fired in a small kiln. After smoking in the naked raku technique all those layers are removed. and the unique smooth pebble is revealed. Please note

Naked Raku is a low-fire technique and this means the clay is porous. if filled with water it will slowly leak out. This vessel should not be filled with water or put in a dishwasher. if it becomes wet it will go dark, but the patterns will return when it dries. if you want to put fresh flowers in it use a strong plastic bag as a liner. The patterns are made by the smoke penetrating the different layers and as such if left in bright sunlight it will eventually bleach out.
